Elaine Luong

I am currently a senior, majoring in Chinese, East Asian Studies, and International Studies with a French certificate, and will be officially graduating in August 2015. In order to complete my last few credits, I will be attending a study abroad in China for four weeks, where I will be able to interview citizens on the changing environment and its effect on agricultural production, as well as the chance to work with some Pandas at an institute. But ideally, in the future, I will be able to work in either marketing or public relations; however, if things do not work out immediately, I will most likely teach English for a year or two in an East Asian country.

The Arndt Family Scholarship has been incredibly helpful to me over the past four years of my life and has afforded me with opportunities and chances to discover my passion. Changing my major(s) from something science-based to humanities was a daunting step, but I knew that with the support of my fellow Arndt Scholars, friends, and family, I would be able to succeed. Having the Arndt Family support, I have been able to complete my college career without constantly worrying about how my family or I would have to come up with the funds to fuel my education. I am very grateful that I was selected as an Arndt Scholar and only that in the future, I will be able to pass on the gift.

Thank you again for all that you do to support students in achieving a higher education. There are no words sufficient enough to describe the amount of gratitude I have. Mr. Arndt’s gift is one that will hopefully keep giving. And I hope that I will be able to help someone else in need, in the future, to complete their college education.
