Lue Yang

My name is Lue Yang and I am a Hmong American student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am majoring in Kinesiology-Physical Education with a Health and Adapted Physical Education minor. My professional goal for the future is to graduate from college and obtain a job as a physical educator at the secondary level. As a physical educator, I want to be an impact/influence on students’ lives by educating them about different sports and helping them obtain skills like social, cognitive, affective and decision makings skills that they can use for the rest of their lives. I will be graduating in the Fall of 2016 and hope that I will obtain the necessary skills to become an outstanding teacher. The Arndt Family Scholarship was able to help me financially at attending this amazing University where I met new people and made new friends. This scholarship helped eliminate my concerns on how I would be able to pay for college. Without this scholarship, I do not think I would be where I am today. With my financial situation at ease, I was able to concentrate on studying and not worry about how I am going to pay off college. In addition, I got to live the college experience! For the past few years in college, it is probably the best years of my life. In addition to making friends and meeting new people, I was able to learn more about myself and become more independent. The Arndt Family Scholarship also helped my family in similar ways. Since I come from a low income family, and a family of ten, there was no way my parents will be able to afford my college tuition and be able to support my other siblings at the same time. With the help of this scholarship, my family and I are extremely grateful for the help from the Arndt family.
